Vent panels

A product of FIKE

Product Outline

A device that opens when the internal deflagration pressure exceeds the static burst pressure of the vent panel. The number of explosion vent panels, size and burst pressure are calculated based on the equipment volume, strength and fuel characteristics.

Explosion venting is a reliable method of protection when the equipment meets certain requirements:

It is located outside.
It is located inside, but close to a wall that directs the deflagration towards the outside.
It has enough surface area to be able to install the required number of ventilation panels.
Contains materials that can be safely released into the atmosphere.
If flames cannot be directed to a safe location, it may be advisable to install flameless venting devices (flame arresters) above the vent panels to extinguish the flames and prevent secondary explosions.

Each explosion venting system is custom designed to reduce the specific risk and meet the requirements of your application and business based on risk factors, the facilities to be protected, the interconnected equipment, its location, and regulatory and operational conditions. Fike's qualified personnel prepare a complete system design taking into account the following parameters:

The size, cracking pressure, number and type of venting panels, including flame arresters, if applicable.
The installation location inside your equipment.
The external effects of flames and pressure.
Recoil forces on processing equipment
This data may be used to:

Determine if your equipment has sufficient space to install the vent panels.
Determine if there is sufficient space to establish a safety zone (for safe venting of flames and/or pressure).
Guide your assembly crew or contractor.
Determine the ability of your equipment to withstand recoil forces that may arise in the event of an explosion.
The final system design document can be incorporated into your explosion protection and hazard files and presented in the event of a safety inspection.

Types: Standard, hygienic, special for battery energy storage systems, special for gas engine exhaust and special for bucket elevators
