La emergency pressure relief valve It is designed to function as a last resort in case the conventional pressure-vacuum relief valve fails.
The sealing cap is held in position by a calibrated coil spring. Pressure buildup in the tank will overcome the spring's resistance and the weight of the cap, causing it to open enough to allow internal pressure to dissipate, thus preventing the risk of tank rupture or explosion. It will close automatically when the internal pressure decreases.
