MBC Bicone Type Mixer

The bicone mixer produces a homogeneous mixture of solids. The mixing process is a common operation in manufacturing for the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical, detergent, fertilizer, and plastics industries.

Some examples are pharmaceutical granules, flour semolina, seeds, starches, coffee beans and ground coffee, cocoa, chocolate flakes or granules, powdered milk, infant food, preparations for making dehydrated creams and soups, foliar waxes, granulated detergents, flake soap, artificial fertilizers, powdered or crushed plastics, plastic pellets and fiberglass, etc.

Operating principle

The mixing body consists of two cones joined at their bases by a cylindrical section. The axis of rotation is perpendicular to the axis of the cones and passes through this cylindrical section. The two benches located on the sides house the motor and hold the mixing body.

The solid is introduced through the loading mouth. In this type of mixer, mixing occurs axially, due to the sliding of the powder in the different sections. It is a precise mixer, but it is influenced by the rotation speed.

The mixture is discharged by means of a hermetically sealed butterfly valve with manual or automatic opening.
The equipment has perimeter protection with electrical safety to prevent operator access while it is in operation. If the equipment is accessed, it will cease operation for safety reasons.

Design and features

The series has 6 models with a total capacity of 160 to 4200 liters, with a useful capacity of 65% of the total.
This mixer is specially designed for delicate mixtures with a risk of breakage to prevent dust formation. Mixing time varies between 5 and 20 minutes depending on the mixture.
It consists of two openings: the loading and cleaning openings. The discharge opening has a butterfly valve that can be opened manually by a lever or automatically.
The mouths have a hermetic seal to prevent environmental contamination during mixing.
Its interior includes a cone mounted on the rotation axis on both sides. This system prevents the formation of dead spaces, facilitating gravity discharge.

This equipment is manufactured with AISI 316 (EN 14404) quality for all parts in contact with the product and AISI 304 (EN 14301) for the benches and other parts. The finish is Ra<0,8 internally and 2B externally.
Easy cleaning both manually and using the automatic CIP system due to its hygienic design and the absence of angles.
It has perimeter protection with a door in accordance with CE safety standards.

The automatic stop positions are: loading, unloading, and sampling. Before stopping in one of the three previous positions, it performs a cycle that will reduce the mixer's speed so it can park precisely and come to a standstill.
This equipment has been designed, unlike the “V” type, for mixtures of granulated products with powder or of high and different density with a load of 65% of the total capacity of the equipment, unlike the 50% load of a “V” type, with loads for mixtures of powders with equal apparent density.
